The Manitoba based duo features Nadia and Jason Burnstick, esteemed independent artists who united over a decade ago to create deeply moving, cinematic Folk music using their trademark vocal pairing, and Jason's mastery of the lap slide Weissenborn guitar. Celeigh Cardinal owns a stage, connecting deeply through humour and vulnerability. Celeigh has charted on the Indigenous Music Countdown, the CBC Music Top 20 Countdown and !earshot. She has two full-length albums completed and her highly anticipated third release is slated for June 2024, which is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts. The Edmonton-based artist has worked with The Walt Disney Corporation with their first season of The Recital of Remixes and later as a mentor/consultant for their second season. She has multiple songs placed in film and TV and sang for The Tragically Hip in their first ever licensing commercial deal with Scotiabank.

Juno nominated Cris Derksen is an Internationally respected Indigenous Cellist and Composer. Originally from Treaty 8 in Northern Alberta, she comes from NorthTall Cree Reserve on her father’s side and Mennonite homesteaders on her mother’s. Derksen braids the traditional and contemporary, weaving her classical background and her Indigenous ancestry together with new school electronics to create genre-defying music. Her compositional strength lies in her diversity for all artistic fields including: Dance, Theatre, Film, Television, Animation, Fashion, Podcasts, Symphonic, Chamber, Choral, and Installations. She performs as soloist-composer for Symphonies and Chamber Orchestra’s across Canada and has been commissioned by the Calgary Philharmonic, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Thunder Bay Symphony and Orchestre Metropolitan- Yannick Nézet- Séguin. Her most recent accomplishments include her Carnegie Hall Debut with a new symphony piece commissioned by Orchestre Metropolitan and a new Ballet with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Symphony.

Hailing from the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjantjara (APY) Lands, DEM MOB is carving a new path in hip hop, changing lives, and strengthening culture through stories, song, and education. The first rappers to perform and record in both Pitjantjatjara and English languages, DEM MOB rounded out a huge 2023 that saw them perform at Adelaide’s WOMAdeliade, Brisbane’s Bigsound, and Primavera Sound Festival and Primavera Pro Conference in Barcelona, Spain. Evan Redsky is a songwriter, hailing from the First Nations Reserve of Mississaugi First Nation. Raised in Blind River and now residing in Toronto, ON. His latest offering, Oblivion seamlessly weaves traditional storytelling, delicate nuance, and poignant commentary on the human condition into a cathartic collection of highway-song vignettes. Drawing from early childhood memories of hearing classic Canadian roots music on one of his reserve’s few available radio stations, Redsky felt compelled to reclaim that form as a vehicle for recounting his own experi- ence as a “Canadian”. Surviving a lineage plagued by the fall out of colonialism, his perspective on the plight of the indigenous peoples of Canada is one that is deeply important in understanding the urgency of truth and reconciliation. Though these topics are prevalent throughout Oblivion, there are still many personal stories of growth, healing and resilience in the face of intergenerational trauma that cast a universally relatable net over anyone struggling through the human condition.

In 2017, Winnipeg-based Anishinaabe and settler folk-soul musician Ila Barker held a guitar on her lap as a friend confided in her the details of an abusive relationship. Barker sang her friend’s words back to her, softly strumming the strings and turning anguish into a serendipitous self-serenade. Eventually that song became the title track of Barker’s debut full-length album, Fool Under Water, a tough-but-tender testament to the possibility of survival, forged as she swam ashore herself. To write Fool Under Water, Barker spent seven years reflecting on her own survival, alongside that of the women around her. The elegantly rugged candor at the heart of the album’s storytelling was amassed through experience.

Joel Maripil is a Mapuche composer and performer (also known as “ülkantufe” or singer-poet) from Kechokawin, a community near Puerto Domínguez on the shores of Lake Budi, Araucanía. He has dedicated his life to the dissemination and transmission of Mapuche Lafkenche culture through ül (singing), not only within Chile but in different corners of the world. Joel has worked as a researcher, compiler and composer, and has also been manager of the Mapuche children 's orchestra of Tirúa and Puerto Saavedra.

Growing up in the suburban-scapes of South Auckland, Aotearoa’s indigenous sweetie lover girl, Jordyn has quickly impacted the music scene with her bilingual (Māori and English) soulful sounds. Descending from Whāingaroa, Mulifanua Lalovi, Falelatai and Vaimoso, the stories are woven throughout her music, with her second release, ‘Brown Melodies’ being nominated for ‘Best Single’ at the 2022 Māori Music Awards.

From Iqaluit Nunavut, Joshua Qaumariaq sings in a blend of Inuktitut and English lyrics, universal themes of light, darkness and isolation. Kaeley Jade is a Métis singer/songwriter, actor, and multidisciplinary artist based in Edmonton, Alberta (amiskwaciwâskahikan). Blending lush imagery and hooky melodic lines to create her own brand of pop - forward indie folk music, Kaeley Jade has performed at venues and festivals across Canada. Past performances include BreakOut West, Coldsnap, the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, JUNOfest, Wednesday on the Wharf, NXNE, and the Tkaronto Music Festival. In the film Layla guides you as she investigates and campaigns around issues of unsafe and unclean water supply in indigenous communities in both Canada and the United States. Toronto Star called Boil Alert “an Ambitious documentary that Transcends geographical boundaries.” Layla is also a singer/songwriter, and a powerful Speaker and Activist. She advocates for Indigenous rights and utilizes her mediums to provide a platform for the stories and movements of her community.

Mamarudegyal MTHC (Born Diana Hellson; January 11, 1992) is a Professional Hip Hop & R&B Artist and Founder of Indigenous Hip Hop & Multimedia Group “Rudegang Entertainment”; Based in Burnaby, BC. Releasing her debut EP “MRG EP” in 2016, and taking home two Fraser Valley Music Awards (Best Hip Hop - Female, Queer Excellence in Music) in 2017, Mamarudegyal MTHC has made quite a name for herself and has the BC Hip Hop scene waiting impatiently for her follow up album, currently in progress.

Manitou Mkwa Singers (Spirit Bear Singers) hail from the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. They are a family Hand drum group that sing pow-wow, and round dance songs. They are all Bear Clan which is in relation to their name “Manitou Mkwa Singers”. They work diligently as helpers in ceremony and community initiatives. Their music is meant to uplift the spirits of people and bring good positive energy to those in need.

Steeped in their Innu roots, Maten is a folk-rock group with upbeat and lively , which was born between the shores of the St. Lawrence and the boreal forest of Mani-utenam on the North Shore of Quebec. With the first single Tshika ui pishikun “Rise Up” of their new album Utenat, Maten starts off strong by showing us that as usual, the crowd will stand up to their music. Maten is an Innu group from Mani-utenam that has been active since the late 1990s. The pop-rock trio is made up of Samuel Pinette, Mathieu McKenzie and Kim Fontaine. Their first album, Akua tutu, was released in 2001, followed in 2004 by the mini-album Tshi Metuatshen. Their second feature, Maten, was released in 2016.

Born in Maliotenam, an Innu community located on Quebec's North Shore, Matiu joined the ranks of 117 Records in the fall of 2016. After releasing a self-titled EP in 2017 followed by a well-received debut album Petikat in 2018, the singer- songwriter released his new album "Tipatshimushtunan" (which means "Tell us" in Innu) directed by Louis-Jean Cormier on August 26, 2022. Adorned with his guitar and surrounded by his exceptional musicians, he presents a folk-blues show in which French and Innu texts intertwine. Matiu tells his story and that of his community through lyrics that deal with daily life, human and family relationships as well as the quest for indigenous identity. He stands out everywhere he goes and seduces the public with his colourful, engaging and authentic personality. With his contagious energy, Matiu offers a show that is both festive and touching, tinged with humour and sensitivity.

A contemporary roots duo featuring sibling songwriters Leela Gilday and Jay Gilday. Sechile Sedare (pronounced ‘seh-chee-leh’ 'seh-dahr-eh') means ‘my younger brother, my older sister’ in the Dene language. This musical collaboration sees Jay and Leela co-write and co-create new repertoire together, harnessing their talents as deeply insightful and genuine storytellers. Silla are an Inuit throat singing duo blending traditional and contemporary katajjaq (throat songs) across a wide range of genres.
