Kanen comes from the Innu community of Uashat mak Mani-Utenam, in Quebec's Côte-Nord region. Her song Tshukain appeared on the collective album Nitehi Aimihewin (Musique Nomade) in September 2019, and a much-anticipated first mini-EP of three songs has been released in October 2019. The artist unveils her sensitive folk universe, which is reminiscent of the humor and gentleness of Les Soeurs Boulay, or Safia Nolins melancholy. On stage, she delivers an intimate and touching show marked by her mature voice accompanied by ukulele, double bass and guitar, all supported by energetic percussions. She is part of the Nikamu Mamuitun / Chansons rassembleuses project and toured Quebec in 2019, sharing the stage with Florent Vollant and Matiu. Kanen is a singer to keep on the radar!
